Bad night.
Yesterday afternoon I went to see a friend and her family and it was a really enjoyable afternoon. Her apartment is so lovely and cozy and I love spending time there. I wonder why everyone else seems to have these automatic homemaker instincts but I don`t have a clue where to start!!?!
Before I left her place I noticed that J was a bit hot. When we got home he was even hotter so I measured his temperature and it was slightly above normal so I panicked and turned to my friends at FWC for advice. As I was getting advice from them. J`s temp hit 39 and I was really worried so I phoned the emergency health centre here in kagoshima. They were absolutely no help at all and the doctor basically told me just to keep an eye on Joey. No advice about what was a dangerous temperature, no advice about how to bring the temperature down. I was getting increasingly worried so I called my Mum in tears!! In a typical experienced Mummy fashion, she told me to stop panicking because it was "just a fever" and to give him some calpol (baby tylenol/ panadol) to make him more comfortable and give him a tepid sponge bath. I did both these and within 10 minutes his temp was almost normal and he was playing by himself rather than clinging to me. He fell asleep around 10.30 and woke up again around 1am with a fever all over again (I guess the meds had worn off) and so I did the same routine because I was absolutely exhausted. The temp went down again and he went back to sleep, only to wake up again a couple of hours later because he was soaking wet with sweat so I dried him off and changed him and when checking his temp saw that it had dropped again to just above normal. This morning he has a temperature of around 38.9 and is clingy again but making faces and showing an interest in stuff (mainly my CD collection yet again!) The on-call doctor for today is in a place in Kag city that I have never been to and would have no idea how to get to so if he gets worse, I will have to get a taxi there I guess. He trying to help me type this post so is hopefully going to be ok... For now i am giving him lots of flu ids and hoping for the be st .
It is just my luck that this would happen when D is not in town! :-(
