More TV addictions..

D and I have a terrible habit of getting really into TV shows and not being able to quit watching! This happened with Friends (which I have always loved but which I watched from the pilot episode to Series 8 with D over a space of a couple of weeks..) and now we are both totally addicted to a Korean drama that has been airing on Japanese TV over the past few months. Korean dramas are a recent phenomenon in Japan and visits from the stars of these shows spark total frenzies. Women queue for HOURS to catch glimpse of their favourite stars. Sad thing is, it isn`t teenagers that are doing this, it is bored housewives, most of whom are the same generation as my MIL. Now, I will be the first to admit that on the whole, the guys who play the lead roles in these programmes are about 10 times more attractive than the leads in Japanese dramas, largely because they still have national service in Korea so in general, the guys look like proper men, not the girly wusses that are popular in Japan. BUT I digress... D and I are currently addicted to チャングムの誓い (Changum`s promise) which is a period drama set in 16th century Korea. It focuses on the comings and goings of court life and the amount of backstabbing and plotting is ridiculous but it is impossible not to get very involved in what is going on!!! I have been less obsessed than D who has stayed up all night a couple of times in the past week to keep watching but that is purely because there is no way I could deal with Joey during the day if I was working on no sleep!!
