Football crazy, football mad...
As most of you know, the World Cup is due to start in about 10 days times and I am VERY excited! I enjoy football but it has to be said that most of the time I don`t bother watching games. However, there is something about the World Cup that gets me excited and makes me want to sit and watch 22 men kicking a ball around a big green field. Contrary to popular belief, it isn`t just because I have a thing about men with footballers` legs!! ;-)
Four years ago, during the summer of my first year in kagoshima, the World Cup was held in japan and korea and it was HUGE event. Whenever Japan played, the square in the centre of Kanoya would be full of people watching the game on a big screen and I went along a few times to watch games because I love stuff like that. (Again, contrary to popular belief, it wasn`t just in the hope that I would meet some cute fellow football loving guys...) At the very beginning of the World Cup I happened to be in Tokyo for a conference and I decided to go up the weekend before the conference and hang out in Tokyo. One night my friends and I went to Roppongi and it was totally insane because the place was choc-a bloc with football fans. Everyone was wearing a football shirt so it was easy to see where people were from! LOL! I ended up spending one of the nights hanging out in a bar with some very gorgeous guys from Sweden and I still keep in touch with one of them from time to time. That night we all said that we would have to meet again in Germany for the 2006 world cup, which at the time seemed like a fabulous and plausible idea (as I planned to be working in the UK by then) Little did I know that a few months later I would end up meeting my future husband and that by the time the 2006 World Cup rolled around I would still be in Japan and would have a one year old son. Life is funny isn`t it!?! ;-)

Oh, I am totally excited for the World Cup! I love Brazil and am so happy that Japan is playing in the same group as they are so I can see all the games! :)
Life is a funny thing! Here I am, a sports nut near Tokyo, where there will be a huge party for the Cup, and I won't be able to go to watch any matches with anyone else because I'm too busy working in the... sports business!???!?!
I don't even have a TV to watch them at home on... hmmm...
G
BTW my hot tip is for England to win and the USA to be the dark horse that knocks out a few fancied teams.
You read it here forst ;)
