One of those weekends...
On friday night I was just settling down and getting ready for bed and looking forward to a weekend of relaxing and catching up on sleep when Daisuke`s phone rang. It was his uncle letting D know that my MIL had been in a car accident. He was sketchy with the details and said that she was conscious but they had taken her off in an ambulance (he had stayed behind to handle police/insurance stuff) The lack of detail sent D into a panicked frenzy and I was ordered to get everything together to leave for Kanoya (about 2 hours away) so we could check on my MIL and see what condition she was in etc.. Luckily, I had only just come back from staying with MIL for two nights that morning so I had yet to unpack anything at all, which made getting stuff together alot easier.
We rushed to Kanoya and half-way there the phone rang again to say that MIL wasn`t seriously injured and that she would be able to come home that night from the hospital. She has been rear-ended by a truck and was very lucky to escape and unscathed as she is. I was shocked when I saw how wrecked her car was and I will try and post some pictures when I can be bothered to transfer them from my mobile phone.
FIL came back from Yamaguchi on saturday morning and he is taking MIL to the hospital and police station tomorrow to sort things out. It is difficult to know exactly what happened but hopefully we will know more tomorrow when they have talked to the police who have already heard the other driver`s side of the story.

Eeep! I am glad she is ok!!
Hope all settles down for the rest of the weekend!
Midori, glad to hear she is OK but what a fright! I hope she starts feeling better soon.
goodness, although it's good to know right away, i kind of hate it when people don't give (or know) all the information right away.
good to hear she's ok, i hope nothing develops. Y and i were rear-ended when i was about 7 or 8 months pregnant, it can be scary! it also seems to be a common traffic accident here in japan, too much tail-gating IMHO!
