Dear Mr annoying American guy who was sitting near me last night...
When you go to a bar to watch a World Cup football game and said bar is FULL of England fans who are away from home and very excited about the possibility that their team might make it through to the semi-finals, DON`T cheer for the other team just to piss people off. If you had any Portugese blood in you at all it would be forgiveable but as you don`t, it really isn`t necessary to behave like a total wanker just to impress the under-age Japanese girls you are trying to get into bed with.
When said football match goes to penalties and everyone in the bar (except you) is on tenterhooks hoping that their beloved team will be able to overcome the fact that Beckham was injured and wouldn`t be able to take a penalty and that they had in fact played with ten men for more than half the game after one of the England players got sent off for being too mouthy, it is NOT a good idea to continue behaving like a weirdo and cheering deliriously as everyone else groans. Had you been in England, you probably would have been carried out of the bar by half-time but as it was, the people in the bar were more tolerant of your antics and you only came close ot being punched in the face a couple of times.. first by me and the second time by one of your friends who couldn`t understand your need to go against the grain on such an emotional night.
In future please remember that football really does bring out a bizarre patriotic side in many people and it is a good idea to be careful.

That is the silly thing- there were other people from the US in the bar and he was the ONLY one who felt the need to behave like a wanker! Glad to know that there were more people out there cheering for England though. I am so sad they lost but having just found out that Brazil went out as well, I feel a bit better!
