He said Mummy!!!

For a while now it has been bothering me that Joey is gaining a varied vocabulary bit by bit but try as I might, I can`t get him to say "mummy". He says "manma" when he wants food and has been known to whine "ma ma mama" at various points but he has never said "mummy" directly to me or about me. It has made me a bit sad because he will say "baa-baa" (grandma) "jii-jii" (grandpa) and has recently started saying "daddy" but no Mummy was forthcoming. This week he has been pointing to photos of me saying "me me" and then this evening he finally pointed at a big photo of me by the dining room table and said "ma me" and then he pointed to me and said "ma me" and I swear I nearly cried! I was so happy that he finally used words in relation to me! I know everyone else who has toddlers are going "my kid said that yonks ago" and I know it is usually one of the first words uttered but I am going to enjoy the bittersweet moment for what it is, my son FINALLY saying something I have been dying to hear for 18 months!!! And as an added bonus, here is a video of Joey last week trying to be all "big brother" like and help Aoi-chan drink her tea! He looks like he is trying to wrestle her but I am sure his heart is in the right place. They are only 4 months apart in age but you can see how gigantic he is compared to her!

Oh who cares whoever else's kid says it first. Ignore people like that Midori! I do! It doesn't really matter. : )

Kids wak, talk etc, whenever they're ready. I tend to not pay much attention to people like that at all.

Noah's speaking as well. He says daddy all the time. But I'll tell you, he has *never* said the word mommy to me either! *sigh*...I'm still waiting over here at my house....sniff sniff! : )

Hopefully my turn will come sooner or later. Ha ha ha. But whenever Noah's ready...is when he will be ready!

Bravo Joey...you're sooo smart! : )

Good night from me here in Chiba : )

Drink... this... tea... will you!?!?!?

Magic stuff! We particularly like the overarm throw at the end to bring Aoi-chan to the ground. Maybe he will be a star recruit for a university judo team in a few years time? :D

That is great! I know how you feel. Bailey's first word was dada and mama didn't come along until much, much later!

Just wait till he's a teenager. . . you won't be so excited that he can talk back to you!
