Still no news...so time for a Joey update!!
I am annoyed at my husband for making me think that a decision would be reached and an announcement would be made this week, putting an end to all the rumours/ speculation. Looks like rumours and speculation are all we have for now!! Sorry to keep you all in suspense but I will post as soon as I know anything!
Joey and I are going to stay with MIL for a couple of night from today. My SIL is down from Yokohama and my FIL is coming home from Yamaguchi for some kind of reserves training (he is ex-SDF) and as FIL hasn`t seen Joey since June, I thought it would be nice to take J to see him and figured as SIL was in town, we would both go!
Joey has become so much fun recently. He has always had an infectious laugh but over the past month or so he has become really gregarious and is forever talking to/ smiling at random people when we go out. His vocabulary is improving and it is interesting to see what words he picks up in which language. For example he is "sit down" because I am always telling him to sit down in the hallway so I can put his shoes on so "sit down" is the sign he wants to wear his shoes!! He says "shoes" "juice" "woof woof" "brush brush" and a whole heap of other random things. I also have a DVD of nursery rhymes and when "Baa baa black sheep" starts he says "Baa baa baa" and when "Hickory Dickory Dock " is playing Joey says "tick tock". When we cross the train lines he says "choo-choo" but I also sometimes think he is saying "densha" (the Japanese word for train!) It is also funny how I hear him say different things to my MIL/Daisuke. For example when he says "here you are", I hear him say "here you are" but my MIL hears "doozo" (the Japanese equivalent) Same with "thank you", I swear he is saying thank you but MIL hears "arigato". It makes me wonder how much of adult language understanding is based on intonation rather than actual word sounds!! (Or even on what we want to hear rather than what we are acually hearing!!!)
He has started to say something resembling Mummy and Daddy but I am still a little bit sad that he says "Baa-baa" (Japanese for grannny) without any problems and on a regular basis!!!
Aside from language development, he has really started to do some funny things. He LOVES getting my pens and drawing so I am trying really hard to be careful where I leave my writing implements as I don`t want him drawing all over my walls!!! I am going to have to buy him some crayons in the hope of minimalising future damage!!! He is also pretty sociable and the other day when we were in Nishimatsuya with Jenn and Ryu, we were all very amused by Joey taking toys from the shelves and trying to give them to a couple of other little boys! The other boys were quite surprised and didn`t seem to know what to do!!!
Joey is also becoming a total flirt!! He cracks me up because he reacts to pretty young girls/ women much better than he does to the old ladies who stop to say hi!!
The final funny thing is that Joey LOVES Anpanman! I am not really sure how/why the obsession started but Anpanman is EVERYWHERE and the reason I know this is because every time Joey sees anything featuring Anpanman he gets all excited and points and says "an pa ba, an pa ba" which is very cute!! I am not so happy he is into a character at such an early age though!!!!
Ok, enough proud mama drivel!! I guess the fact he is sleeping better is endearing him to me!! LOL!
(I also wanted to say that I am LOVING my new blog template.. it is definitely more me!!)

Cool that you guys are getting away for a few days! It may take your mind off the suspense!
Isn't it awesome how children grow and develop! Sounds like Joey has a wonderful personality!
I think it will sound like thank you to a person speaking English and arigato to Japanese.
Danke schoen?
You know, my daughter developed a thing for Anpanman. I have no idea why or how this started as I never bought her anything or let her watch anything with Anpanman. Maybe it is some Japanese genetic thing that kicks in around that age. LOL!
I think it's awesome you are taking Joey to see his grandpa! That's so sweet of you....it really is, especially since he hasn't seen him since June like you said! Have a wonderful time with your in-laws and your sil! : )
About Joey being into a character. You know, it's always a surprise who your kid will end up liking, you know. I recall, Branden first had a small thing for Elmo. Then a huge thing for Thomas the tank engine. I'm telling ya, it was all things Thomas! Ha ha ha! Then that faded after a few years and now it's Spongebob! Ahhhhh! LOL! I don't mind so much anymore! Must be because I seem to recall, as a kid myself, I was quite fond of Strawberry Shortcake and the Smurfs, ha ha ha! : )
Anpanman.Say no more.............
Have a good time with your in-laws and love your new-look blog,by the way.
