A nice end to a crappy weekend.

This morning I went out at 9.30 am and enjoyed 4 glorious hours of time by myself. I went to the hairdressers and he put in some highlights and cut my hair really nicely. The highlights stand out way more than the ones I had done in the summer and I was very happy with what he did. (Pic below, I don`t like the close-up but it was the best way to see my hair!!!) From the hairdressers I went to meet my friend Sue and her daughter for lunch. Sue`s son Aiden has been in hospital for a week now with pneumonia so she has been stuck in the hospital with him. I haven`t been able to go and see her because Joey has been sick and also because I didn`t want to bring any germs home with me. It was nice to see her and catch up.

After lunch I went home and took over from Daisuke with Joey and Joey and I had a fun afternoon hanging out and reading books. He has a couple of books with animal pictures and he has started pointing and chatting like he is telling a story. There was a picture of a fox sleeping and he pointed and said "woof-woof ne ne." "Ne ne" is the japanese for "napping" or "sleeping" so he was basically trying to say that the "woof-woof" (his word for all furry animals) was sleeping. This evening Joey and I went out for dinner with a friend who lives in Fukuoka and his family. There was another guy who works with my friend Jenn there are well. Gareth (my friend) has two kids and his son is the same age as Joey (only a month younger) It was nice to see the kids together but it was really really nice to kick back and talk English for the second time in a day. Gareth`s Mum is visiting from Wales so it was nice to meet her. Today was such a good day that it almost made up for the nightmare that was friday. Joey was pretty well behaved and his cold seems to be improving. I put the humidifier on last night to see if that made a difference and he seemed to sleep better as a result of the increased humidity in the room. It also made the room a bit warmer which might have been a contributing factor as well. Finger crossed that he will continue to get better.

Daisuke also seemed to feel slightly bad about abandoning me this weekend and he brought me back a really pretty necklace and earring set. In the past I have been secretly disappointed by his spontaneous gifts because he often buys me stuff that isn`t my style but this time he got it just right (if you look at the haircut picture you can see the pendant) as it is simple and the necklace is the length I like so he redeemed himself a little bit.

Nice necklace. I like simple too.

My late husband once bought me a blouse, ruffled on the bottoms, with blue and white polka dots.

You've seen my picture. Can you imagine me in that? I finally wore it a couple of times under a jumper (I was pregnant so it worked).

How nice to get out by yourself for a while! I don't do that often enough. Both the highlights and the necklace are lovely!
