And the husband of the year award...
does NOT go to my husband. Response to the lovingly prepared bento. (When asked "how was your obento") " The tamagoyaki was too salty." Response to the chocolates I made. "They`re alright." (Although he scoffed down six of them so I figure they were probably good) Response to our son throwing up on the carpet. "I am sleepy, I want to go to bed." (The same response was also applied when I said I was going to the gym because it my night to do so) Next year he is going to get arsenic onigiri, not heart-shaped ones...Some days I just don`t know why I bother making an effort at all.
I forgot to add that I took Joey to the doctor again today and it seems that the "blood disease" he was talking about was something called Epstein-Barr virus. I freaked out when I first heard that but it turns out to not be such a terrible disease and is a member of the herpes family so while I am still worried that Joey might have it (there is still no definite diagnosis one way or another) it isn`t fatal or life-threatening so I am a teeny bit calmer. Hopefully it will be something else though!!!

Hugs!!! Hopefully he will see the error of his comments when not so tired!
Arsenic in the onigiri? Ha ha ha, you are killing me here! You've got a wonderful sense of humor! Never ever lose that please! : )
I think it sucks he mentioned the eggs were too salty! Even if they were, he shouldn't have said it. And the fact you tried so hard and put the effort to me says a lot! Well, I for one am still going to say a big "well done" anyway Midori!
Yes, I've heard of Epstein bar before too. Sounds not as serious as we all worried, which is a good thing. Plus he might not even have it yet, right? I bet Joey doesn't even have it though Midori. He's a healthy strapping boy otherwise. I bet and am hoping, he just has a nasty stomach bug or flu and that it passes. : )
Hi Midori!
Loved your bento's! They look delicious! ahh only a week left before I'll be back home making 6am bentos! arrgh!
I didn't know you could get Epstein-Barr so young!! I got it when I was 17 in Japan and because I wasn't told how important it is to rest and do absolutely nothing, I didn't and I'm still recovering 7 years later. I'm sure it's a lot different for toddlers though and he'll be back to full health in no time!
Anyway, thinking of you all from here in NZ!
