Crazy week...
It has been a bit of a mad and busy week! My MIL was here from sunday and then SIL came with Aoi on Thursday and everyone finally left yesterday but then last night I had to make dinner for one of D`s colleagues and his family. Slaving in the kitchen was not really my idea of a fun way to spend one of the only nice days this week!!!
In January I mentioned my SIL`s obsession with the fact that her daughter has one eye that sometimes has a double eyelid and they are hoping that this will be a permanent thing. Well, I nearly ending up trying to slap some sense into my MIL and SIL because every other hour (at least) one or the other of them would go "oh look, she has a double eyelid" or "oh look, her double eyelid has disappeared, she only has single eyelids"(depending on whether said eyelid had appeared or not) My MIL even went as far as to say that if she ends up with only one double eyelid, they will have to think about giving her an operation so that both her eyes have double eyelids. I was like WTF!?!?!?! The baby is SIX MONTHS OLD. She is cute and healthy and seems to be normal developmentally and they are stressing out about an eyelid!?!?! Every time they started going on about it I wanted to scream "do you not realise how stupid you both are!?!?! It is not important!! Westerners laugh at Japanese people for being so obsessed with something so stupid, you dizzy bints.." but I bit my tongue!!
I now understand why my husband has such a complex about his eyes being small as he must have had it drilled into him from a really young age. I suspect that Aoi is going to grow up wishing she had double eyelids (in the event that it disappears for good or the other one doesn`t match) and if Joey continues to "just have" single eyelids I am going to have to work really hard to make sure he realises that that kind of stuff is soooo not important.

I'm sure with his very cool aunties around to mock anyone who cares about the eyelids Joey will soon understand how unbelievably dumb worrying about that is! Ganbarimasu!
Sorry to hear that the weekend was crazy! Double eyelids...hmmm...E7 does it sometimes with his eyes and it's actually quite frightening. :)
