Crazy but good weekend...
Joey spent almost the whole weekend with Daddy this weekend and as a result he and D seem to have become best buddies!! I had to go for a dinner on saturday night and although I wasn`t originally planning to be out late, once I was out and about, I wanted to keep going so after checking with D, I went for a drink with a couple of friends. We went to a bar that I had never been to called "Big Ben". I had heard that they would be showing the football games during the world cup and wanted to see what was going on. It is a really nice place and they have lots of great bottled beers that I haven`t seen for a LONG time. We sat and chatted for a couple of hours and it was about 1am when I got home!
Yesterday afternoon I went to help out at the JALT Kagoshima Teaching Children Conference. It was the first time I had attended one of these events and it was definitely very interesting. I learnt quite alot from the various presenters and got some really good ideas of things/ways to teach my students!!
Although I did feel bad leaving Joey for so long over the space of two days, I have to say it was a nice release and it felt good to feel as if I was actively participating in adult society again!! For a long time the only adult interaction I had outside of my friends and family were the mothers of my students. It was also nice to speak English all weekend!!
J went to daycare THREE times last week because I am trying to keep him away from my students who have chicken pox. I am going to take him today as usual but change the time a little bit so that I don`t have to take him to Aira with me. Unfortunately that means no time for me to have to myself but I guess it is better than him picking up the virus from one of the other kids. Were we not due to fly out in just over two weeks, I would take him and let him risk getting infected because I think it is better to get these things out of the way sooner rather than later but the timing was a bit unfortunate!! I will probably take him on friday because then it will be 2 weeks until we arrive in London and it doesn`t really matter if he gets chicken pox once we are there. (Not the best start to a holiday but at least I will have my Mum on hand to help and offer nursely advice!!!)

No Chicken Pox vaccination in Japan?
Glad it was a good weekend!! Ooo out for drinks I am jealous!!!
They do have the vaccine but you have to pay extra for it and I hadn`t gotten around to doing it yet. (along with his measles and rubella) I was kind of hoping he would pick it up from my student because he saw her a couple of days before her spots came out but no spots yet!! None of the other kids in the family have picked it up yet either so I guess we shall just wait and see what happens this week!
